Following on from the great success of the last edition of the HR Forum of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the UK which we held in June on the topic of Change and the Future of Work, I am excited to be writing to invite you to the next edition of our online HR Forum which will be taking place in early November. Please find the full details below:

Title: The inter-generational workplace and how businesses can be more age-friendly

Date: Thursday 11th November, 10:30am – 11:45am GMT / 11:30am – 12:45pm CET

Info:  This edition of the HR Forum will carry the same format as the last one in that Monica Hernanz, the Forum’s Chairwoman, will begin by carrying out an open conversation with our esteemed guest speaker for the session, David Blackburn. David is the Chief People Officer, Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) – an organisation that was set up in 2001 under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 to protect customers of financial services firms that have failed. 

 

The dialogue will explore topics and questions including the following:

        what is meant by the inter-generational workplace?

        What are the both the main benefits and challenges of the multigenerational workplace?

        How can we combat bias and stereotypes in the workplace?

        Leadership styles across the different generations in today’s workforce

        What are the best practices for managing a multigenerational workforce and how can my business nurture an inclusive working environment?

 

The agenda for the meeting will be as follows:

10:30-10:45 Attendee welcome, virtual coffee and introduction to the session and the topic

10:45-11:15 Conversation between Monica Hernanz and David Blackburn

11:15-11:45 Forum member discussion

 

About the speaker:

David Blackburn is one of the most awarded HR professionals working in the UK today and listed as one the top 100 HR Directors in the World in the HRD Global 100 2021. In January David was made a Chartered Companion of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). This is the highest accolade and level of membership awarded by the CIPD professional body and the selection of individuals to enter this group – currently only twenty-six – is made directly by the CIPD Board.

With over 20 years’ experience in leading all aspects of Human Resources, David is currently the Chief People Officer of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Prior to his current role he worked across both the private and not-for-profit sectors. David is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen and the London Business School; a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce; the Institute of Leadership and Management and a Member of the Guild of HR Professionals.

David Blackburn is the Investors in People (IiP) Leader of the Year; MEMCOM Excellence Awards HR Leader of the Year, Personnel Today Awards HR Director of the Year 2020 and HR Excellence HR Team of the Year 2020 as well as being the inaugural Financial Times FT Adviser Diversity Champion of the Year. David’s work has been recognised in multiple National Awards including: Brilliance in Internal Communication; Business in the Community (BITC) Responsible Business; CIPD People Management; Employee Benefits; Engage Awards; Financial Adviser Diversity in Finance; Financial Innovation; Housing Heroes; HR Distinction; HR Excellence; Investors in People; Personnel Today; and the UK Customer Experience Awards.
