The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the UK was delighted to recently welcome Sonnedix as our new Patron.

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Gregorio Morales, Chief Commercial Officer at Sonnedix, to gain insights into the company’s activity in the UK, its growth, and its vision for the future.

1. Could you provide a brief overview of Sonnedix and its presence in the UK market?

Sonnedix is a global renewable energy company focused on delivering 100% clean electricity to customers through a diversified portfolio of solar, wind, and energy storage assets. Over nearly two decades, we have built a strong track record of developing, constructing, and operating renewable projects with a long-term perspective, always aiming to provide tailored and innovative solutions to our customers.

Today, our portfolio totals around 12 GW, including assets in operation, under construction, and in development. In the UK, where we have been present since 2015, we continue to strengthen our footprint, with 294 MW currently under construction and expected to become operational in the first half of 2026.

2. As a new Patron of the Chamber, what benefits do you hope to gain from our collaboration?

Becoming a Patron of the Chamber is an important step for us in reinforcing the relationship between Spain and the UK. We strongly believe that international collaboration is essential to accelerate the energy transition and drive sustainable economic growth.

For Sonnedix, this partnership represents an opportunity to be part of a dynamic platform that promotes dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among key stakeholders. We are keen not only to exchange perspectives, but also to actively contribute to discussions that foster innovation, attract investment, and create long-term value in both markets.

In addition, we place great value on the Chamber’s unique institutional reach and credibility in both Spain and the UK. Its long-standing relationships with public authorities, combined with its recognised role as a trusted interlocutor with governments, give the Chamber a distinctive gravitas in promoting constructive engagement between the public and private sectors. We see this as particularly important in a highly regulated field such as energy, where informed dialogue with policymakers is essential to enable investment, deliver the transition at scale, and support policy frameworks that work for both markets.

3. What key values define Sonnedix, and how are these values embedded in your approach to developing, building and operating renewable energy projects across your teams?

At Sonnedix, our culture is built around a strong set of values: sustainability, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, and a firm commitment to ethics and integrity. These are not just principles on paper, they are embedded in how we operate every day.

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, ensuring that our projects deliver positive environmental and social impact while creating long-term value. At the same time, we promote an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives are encouraged, which ultimately leads to better collaboration and decision-making.

Health and safety is a top priority across the entire lifecycle of our projects, and our commitment to transparency and ethical behaviour underpins all our relationships. Together, these values enable us to deliver responsible, high-quality renewable energy solutions worldwide.

4. How does Sonnedix stand out within the renewable energy sector, and what specific approaches or initiatives enable you to deliver innovative, high-quality clean energy solutions to your customers?

What really differentiates Sonnedix is our evolution into a Next Generation IPP. We have moved beyond the traditional model to become a fully integrated player that combines renewable generation with direct commercialisation, placing the customer at the centre of everything we do.

The sector has evolved significantly. In the past, the challenge was mainly about building capacity. Today, the real complexity lies in commercialisation, how to structure solutions that respond to increasingly sophisticated customer needs.

In this context, our integrated model allows us to offer more flexible, tailored solutions. It is no longer just about producing renewable energy, but about how we deliver it, structure it, and create value for our customers in a much more dynamic and competitive market.

5. What is Sonnedix’s vision for the future, and what strategies or actions are you putting in place to achieve it?

Our vision is to play a key role in strengthening energy independence while accelerating the transition to a more electrified and renewable energy system.

To move in that direction, we are focusing on becoming a more integrated and technology-driven company. As the energy landscape becomes increasingly complex, we are investing in advanced systems and digital tools, including AI, to improve both our operations and decision-making.

At the same time, our positioning as a Next Generation IPP allows us to remain agile and deliver tailored solutions by integrating generation, storage, and commercialisation. A key priority is the hybridisation of our assets with battery storage, which will enable us to offer greater flexibility, price stability, and security of supply.

Ultimately, our goal is to build a more resilient, flexible, and sustainable energy system, always aligned with the evolving needs of our customers.
