As a result of globalisation, many individuals have moved from their home country to work in other jurisdictions. This is a very common issue for British and Spanish individuals, two countries with strong economic ties. However, these individuals can often face unexpected legal issues derived from their cross-border status and wealth.

This in-person seminar which we are holding in collaboration with our Benefactor Buckles Solicitors and member ZADAL will discuss the main legal and tax implications that arise for individuals with wealth in both jurisdictions or that have moved to progress in their careers abroad.

About the speakers:

Constantino Vidal has an extensive professional career in corporate tax advice, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, restructuring, private banking and wealth management; both nationally and internationally.Constantino started his career at Garrigues before moving to the Financial Taxation area at Cuatrecasas and was Head of Tax at Ecija. He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and of the Association of Economists of A Coruña, and professor and lecturer at different educational institutions and business schools.

 

Carlos Saldaña is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and has over 10 years’ experience in providing tax advice on mergers acquisitions, group restructurings, along with tax implications for real estate transactions. During his career he has provided advice regarding tax structures for both national and international clients. Additionally, Carlos is specialised in providing tax advice to Private Clients. Previous to joining ZADAL, he was a senior associate in Ecija’s tax team and has also worked for Roca Junyent and PwC.

 

Alvaro Aznar Azcarate is a dual qualified English Solicitor and Spanish Abogado with over a decade’s experience in cross border private client law acting for High-Net-Worth individuals and charities in the planning and administration of complex international estates. He is especially skilled in resolving multi-jurisdictional conflicts where civil law and common law systems collide. He is a popular speaker and author on cross border private client law by organisations including The Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP), The Law Society of England and Wales Private Client Section, The Law Society of Scotland and Wolters Kluwer (Spain).

 

Paula Piquer Ruiz Paula is a Senior Solicitor and Spanish Abogado at Buckles’ International and Family Law departments. She has been practicing in London since 2009 specialising in international family law matters, in issues surrounding divorce, finances, children, asset protection, recognition andenforcement of foreign orders, and disputes concerning choice of forum and jurisdiction. Her dual qualification also allows her to advise on Spanish and Catalan family law.  Her experience in handing cases involving international aspects is highly valued both as a litigator and as an expert providing reports and affidavits of law in both English and Spanish law.
