Does your company operate in both England and Spain, and is it subject to cross-border litigation? Have you ever encountered a cross-border dispute that could easily have been resolved through arbitration, but didn’t know where to begin?

Navigating cross-border disputes requires more than legal knowledge—it demands insight into jurisdictional nuances. For in-house counsel managing cross-border disputes, understanding the legal and practical contrasts between jurisdictions is critical.

On 10th July, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce is hosting a seminar in collaboration with Member Ayuela Jiménez, which will provide strategic, actionable guidance to help you navigate litigation and arbitration between England and Spain—two pivotal legal systems for international business.

In this seminar, Lawyer and Partner Eduardo Ayuela, along with Managing Associate Srishti Jain from Keidan Harrison, will cast the focus on:

  • Risk Management Across Legal Systems: Key differences between English common law and Spanish civil law—and what they mean for dispute exposure.
  • Drafting with Disputes in Mind: How jurisdiction and arbitration clauses can work for or against you in future proceedings.
  • Cost and Budget Clarity: Typical fee structures, cost recovery expectations, and the growing role of third-party funding.
  • Enforcement Realities: Practical steps for securing and enforcing judgments or arbitral awards across borders.
  • Avoiding Local Pitfalls: Insights into procedural traps, document management, language barriers, and cultural expectations.

This session is designed to equip legal departments with the foresight and tools to mitigate litigation risk and make informed decisions when disputes arise in either jurisdiction.

After the session, there will be an opportunity to network over a light breakfast.

Date & time: Thursday 10th July, 8:30 (for a 9:00 start) – 10:30

Location: Spanish Chamber of Commerce | 126 Wigmore Street | London W1U 3RZ

The seminar welcomes both Members and non-Members, and is free of charge for Members of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the UK.
