The Spanish Chamber of Commerce is committed to fostering dialogue between its Members and the UK government, particularly on key policy areas such as business engagement. We are pleased to announce that Kirsty McNeill MPParliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland, will join us as the special guest speaker at our next Meliá Business Breakfast.  

The Minister’s briefing will touch on key portfolio areas including: 

  • Business Engagement, including female-led businesses and exporting  
  • Reflections on her visit to Spain and planned next visit 
  • Brand Scotland  
  • The new EU-UK Trade agreement 
  • Signing of the strategic bilateral framework between UK and Spain

 

 

 

 

 

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session, after which guests will have the opportunity to network while enjoying a Spanish breakfast. The event will take place at the Meliá White House hotel, a proud Patron of the Spanish Chamber.

About the Minister:  

Kirsty McNeill is the Scottish Labour and Co-operative MP for Midlothian and the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland.   

Political career   

Kirsty McNeill entered Parliament following a distinguished career in public service and advocacy. From 2007 to 2011, she served as an adviser to Prime Minister Gordon Brown in Downing Street — later working with him and his wife Sarah on charitable and social change initiatives.   

Before her election, Kirsty was Executive Director at Save the Children, leading a team of 160 to deliver practical support to UK families and award-winning international campaigns. Alongside foreign leaders, former prime ministers and NATO officials, she has been a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations.  

With extensive non-executive and media experience, Kirsty has chaired leading organisations including IPPR, the Civic Power Fund, and the advisory board of Our Scottish Future. She has also held board roles dedicated to climate action, Holocaust education, and social justice.  

An accomplished writer, Kirsty is the author of chapters in two recent books — ‘Raising the Nation’ and ‘Children’s Experience, Participation and Rights During COVID-19’ — and has contributed to outlets including the Telegraph, Times, Observer, Guardian, New Statesman and Scotsman.
