Despite the COVID-19 pandemic having begun as a health crisis, first and foremost, the much larger picture of its overall impact will be affected by how well business operations and supply chains react to this rapidly changing situation.

For this webinar held in collaboration with Chamber patron IESE, Professor Jaume Ribera who is a Professor of Operations Management at the university’s Business School will draw from the legacies of previous global health disasters to analyse the general life cycle of a crisis. He will assess the different criteria that are important in the management of disruptions in supply chains and operations for companies of all sizes and sectors, and explain why after the challenge comes an unprecedented opportunity for growth, redevelopment and ultimately increased competitiveness.

Speaker bio: Jaume Ribera is professor of Operations Management at IESE Business School. He has an M.Sc and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, from the University of Florida and a Dr. Eng. in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He was the president of the European Operations Management Association (2004-2007) and was the former secretary of U.S. Operations Management Association (1992-97). He has served on several editorial boards of and has published teaching materials and academic research in different journals. He has been active in consultancy in supply chain management and project management and has extensive experience of working with private and public companies in different industries.
