The session covered different aspects of the reform, with a particular focus on the commercial and fiscal elements.

The seminar started with Mauricio briefly presenting the subjects and the purpose of the seminar to attendees. He then went on to inform that one year on after the Entrepreneurs Support Act had been approved, the response had not been particularly positive from either entrepreneurs or employers, so although there were great expectations, the reform hadn’t brought about significant changes in the Spanish entrepreneurial fabric.

Mr. Mauricio Ticó (left) and Ms. Belén Berlanga (right), from Adarve Abogados, during the seminar

Mauricio also covered the tax support measures, focusing on the Patent Box, in regard to Corporation tax and the deductions that companies benefit from. He explained the “Special Cash Accounting Scheme”, which refers to VAT, and the different types of deductions for the companies: for profit investment or for R&D.

Mauricio then gave the floor to Belén Berlanga, who went on to explain the lines of action that the new Entrepreneurs Act aimed to achieve, such as facilitating entrepreneurial culture and initiative. She mentioned the newly created figure of the “limited liability entrepreneur”, which does not actually differ much from a similar figure that already existed in the previous regulation.

Something similar applies to a “Limited liability capital growth company”, with incorporations of companies that are creating normally S.L. or S.A. with less than 3.000 Euros. Ms. Berlanga explained that although it is claimed that there are ways to create a company in 24 hours, the reality is that the administration cannot actually meet that deadline. Belén then covered how entrepreneurs can have access to public sectors contracts, the figure of the mediator and the mechanism for negotiating debts.

To end the seminar, attendees shared their questions and comments with the speakers. After the round of questions, participants exchanged their impressions of the event and continue networking while enjoying some breakfast.

At the end of the seminar, the attendees exchanged their impressions of the event and continue networking

We take this opportunity to thank the attendees, as well as Adarve Abogados and our two speakers, for delivering this seminar and sharing their expertise with us.

In order to find out about other activities that the Spanish Chamber is organising, we encourage you to keep an eye on our UPCOMING EVENTS section within our website.

On Thursday 13th March we held the seminar “Entrepreneur Support Act,” in collaboration with Adarve Abogados, Patron of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
