On Tuesday 20th May, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce held the seminar “Growth Accelerator” in collaboration with Grant Thornton, member of the Chamber.
On this occasion, Cristina Carmona, Head of Corporate Relations, welcomed the attendees on behalf of the institution and introduced the speakers of the seminar: Bruce Johnstone, Growth Accelerator Regional Manager at Grant Thornton and Gabi Marcon, Growth coach.
Firstly, Gabi Marcon started the session asking participants some questions in order to provide a reality check to know where they were. As she outlined, there are different stages in the process of growing a business, and different feelings can be felt through them, for instance being enthusiastic at the early stages, or frustrated and stressed later in the process among sentiments.
She highlighted that growing your business can be focused on three main actions: attracting customers, landing new products and entering new markets. In addition to this, she mentioned that the key point to success is to have an accurate business plan and go over it frequently to check that things have not deviated from the plan. Moreover, she went over key factors that are required to achieve this target such as vision, brand building or choosing the right people to work with.
On the other hand, she remarked the importance of business coaching to follow the paths to reach your goals. Some examples for the way that they can help companies are by assisting in the challenges that growth throws up, or by helping them to focus on raising the game and taking the next steps. She said that growing business is not simple but it can be done with the assistance of a coach who guides companies in the process of moving into the next step.
During the second part of the session, Gabi gave the floor to Bruce who explained to participants what exactly GROWTH ACCELERATOR means; some of its aims are to build a successful growth strategy, discovering new routes to funding and investment, uniting and exciting your leadership team. He also mentioned that through this program the objective is to assist companies to grow and create value. Based on his experience, small companies can even double their size with the right support.
Attendees were highly interested in the fact that this process is bespoke depending on companies specifics needs and it lasts around 6 to 9 months.
Finally, Bruce showed how much the process costs, its benefits in terms of figures and how the different phases work.
After the session, all attendees had the opportunity to network, ask doubts to the speakers, exchange their impressions and ideas about the points covered in the talk while enjoying some breakfast.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the seminar and especially our member Grant Thornton for contributing to this engaging session.
