The Mahou-San Miguel Group, leading brand in the Spanish beer market, markets a wide range of products, such as Mahou Cinco Estrellas or San Miguel Especial. In 2004, the group incorporated the Canary Island brand Reina, and Cervezas Alhambra in 2007. It was also the first company to launch brands such as San Miguel 0,0%, the first completely non-alcoholic beer, or San Miguel ECO, exclusively made from organic ingredients.
In 2009, to encourage its international expansion, Mahou-San Miguel signed an agreement with the Danish company Carlsberg. This gave Carlsberg the rights to distribute and market San Miguel in the UK, whilst Mahou-San Miguel acquired the same rights with the brands Grimbergen and Tetley’s in Spain. In 2010, the group signed new agreements: with Carlsberg UK to distribute Mahou in the hotel and catering trade in the UK, with Sara Lee for exclusive distribution within the Spanish hotel and catering trade of its ground coffee brand Marcilla, with Molson-Coors for the distribution of Carling in Spain and with the German brewery Warsteiner to market its beers in Spain, Portugal and Andorra. In 2011, the Group acquired Solán de Cabras, further strengthening its drinks portfolio with the water brand Solán de Cabras and the soft drinks brand Bisolán. In 2012, the Group has signed a joined venture whereby it will control 50% of the Indian company Arian Breweries & Distilleries Ltd. Mahou-San Miguel is currently present in 41 countries.
